Types of NFTs (pt.2) - Alpha and Art

Disclaimer: everything I write is my opinion, please do your own research and don't take this as financial advice. If you're interested in viewing my previous writings or learning more about the space, subscribe below! Please share with others, too!

Yesterday's writing went over PFP and Utility NFTs, you can read that here! Today's write-up is over Alpha and Art. Let's jump right in. P.S. There's something fun at the end!

Alpha

If you invest in the stock market and have ever looked up stock news, you've probably stumbled across a dozen or so ads like the one above. "Hey, you aren't that good at trading by yourself, or maybe you're tired of doing the heavy lifting in doing your own research... Pay us and we'll provide you with insight and resources!" No shame in it, I used to be a Motley Fool customer and they taught me a lot. Alpha groups are essentially groups that provide you information, whether it's volume indicators, big buys in the market or general information that may not be available to the average Joe on twitter.

Alpha is also slang for knowledge or nice pieces of information. For instance, "the founder of X project was liking the tweets of Y project" because of this information there may be a possible collaboration or buyout happening. That's a nice piece of Alpha.

These NFTs essentially act as a hall pass to be a part of the community and receive the information that's being shared. I'm looking to join one, but to be honest, they are in no way necessary. I've made a lot of smart friends in the NFT Space, I think most of us are in the green of trading by a good bit. The connections I've made have been the most valuable part of the NFT space, I was lucky and found that outside of an Alpha group, some people may need a group like this to find like-minded people.

ART

This is my favorite section. This is the area I think NFTs can change lives the most.

This gif of a Nyan cat was a meme for years. The artist never got paid, granted he got famous. This at one point was the most popular gif on the internet and now is iconic. The artist recently was able to make an NFT of Nyan Cat with an entire collection and be compensated for their work, because of the blockchain, computers keep track of every transaction and can pay artists a set percentage of each sale. Artists can create art, set a 2.5% royalty fee (more or less) create a collection of their art and get paid for every transaction. Happened to this 12-year-old girl, who made 1.6 million dollars (probably higher now) selling her art.

This is drawing photographers, painters, and animators to the space. The art In the NFT space is fascinating. 3D designers and animators draw in some of the biggest attention. Check out this animated PFP project, that may be the most hype project dropping this year, Invisible Friends!

There are entire NFT platforms dedicated to artists and showcasing their work. SuperRare, listed below, is one of those platforms. I could spend hours just wandering through the collections.

NFTs are going to finally reward the artist and the art. A meme of "Right Click and Save" has been growing in popularity as NFTs have been growing in popularity. It's a funny notion but doesn't really make sense. When applied to artBelow I've listed some of my favorite artists and collections for you to look through. I've linked personal websites to their names as well.

Peter Tarka

A master of 3D design. Peter Tarka specializes in creating curated sets that are beautifully polished and plays with shapes and designs. His last big collection, shapes, and forms was a large success. I think he will likely be one of the leaders in 3D Art and Design over the next couple of years.

Apoxia

Apoxia makes some really cool 3D animations and clips for some massive projects in the NFT Space. I've had the pleasure of having a conversation with him a couple times. His work matches his personality, very gifted and smooth. Formerly a professor in design and he will likely be a person to watch in the space, his collabs alone are worth noting, the biggest being Axie Infinity. He specializes in motion animations which are becoming IMMENSELY popular in the NFT art and art world.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/apoxia.art/Twitter: https://twitter.com/apoxia3

Jonathan Lindgren

Jonathan Lindgren is a specialist in motion and clay style 3D animation. If you look at his work, it's cute and cool. His Instagram is filled with short animation art. His current project, Tiny Heroes consist of 128 unique figurines made into real figurines and distributed to holders. I love his work, I think many will too.

CFW

CFW, or Chapters From Within, is a multifaceted artist. He specializes in 3D renders, motion, and more. He's a community builder as well. I know him from his STACY Pills collection. This collection features his work as well as collaborations from many established and up-and-coming artists. His work is a little more abstract but really cool, with a lot of individuality. I've learned a ton from his discord and been exposed to many new artists through him and other artists that I've met during my journey into NFTs. You'll hear me say it thousands of times, the value is in the people you meet.

Nguyen Nhut

Nguyen Nhut specializes in 3D animation and motion. His work has catapulted him into what will probably be the biggest project of 2022. Invisible Friends, a project of short animated clips of invisible people walking. This genre of art, 3D clips and motion, will likely be the biggest trend of the year. His work is superb, very likable, and trendy currently. His work was similar to Jonathan Lindgren's before with cute style art, exhibited here in Clay Boys. Already a huge name in the space.

These aren't even all my favorites. I've left some out. There are dozens of great artists now making NFTs their main platform. I could spend hours looking through Twitter, Superrare, and other NFT marketplaces for them. The best way to get to know other artists is to follow artists. The artist community is very well connected and if you want to start producing your own art, their discords can be some of the best places to meet other aspiring artists. That's Alpha. I'll leave you with one last thing to play with over the weekend. WOMBO. Wombo is an app that generates 1/1 works based on AI. It's about to get a "make this an NFT" feature. Maybe some of you can become artists, feel free to blow the rest of your workday here!

I made this piece I call "Miami Vice".
